Who am I?
I am a very extroverted person, I love talking to people and hearing stories of everything, and sharing my own. I regularly go golfing and the daredevil of my family. Golfing is not the only activity that I love to partake in with my family or others. I also love billard's, darts, dancing, weightlifting, and more! The challenges that I had within each of these was unique from learning the rules, understanding the history, and hearing other people's story and journey. All of this has helped me apply similar ethics to how I tackle a problem.
How UX started for me
It all started with the movie "The Intern". In the movie, Jules (Anne) owned a company and in one scene she was called into an office and one of her workers informed her that people were abandoning the site when checking out. Once I heard that I started researching how and why those statistics are used. However...
It was not until college after taking some art and design classes where I could learn more about designing for the web. After getting a basic understanding of how it works I wanted to learn more about it so I took classes with Human Factors International.
Here is where I dove into the psychology of design and started to analyze the different methods that would help users achieve their goal(s). As is the case with Jules in the movie.
Where I am with UX currently
From my initial exposure to how I understand the methodology behind UX, I still wanted to learn more about it so I took classes through Rice University for UX/UI. Here is where I was able to apply what I learned from HFI and start my journey in UX. With what I have learned, and still wanting to learn more about, I feel confident and ready to tackle a bigger problem with other UX professionals.
